When Jean-Marc Vacheron founded his manufacture in 1755, things were much different. A master watchmaker had to find a location for his workshop that could house both family and apprentices. Genevan watchmakers tended to settle in what is now the old city center, with their workshops on the top floor to take advantage of every minute of sunlight.
